Tommie Carolyn Atwood, 88, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on January 31, 2021.
She entered this world on January 10, 1933 in Lake Creek, TX, born to T.L. and Donnie Jackson. She graduated from Wylie High School in 1951 and married John Rylee Atwood that year. They were married 63 years. She spent most of her life living in Abilene and her entire life was spent in Texas.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Smith, son-in-law Mark, grandson Timothy Whitaker, wife Meghan, great-granddaughters Charlotte and Madison Whitaker, granddaughter Sarah Whitaker, grandson Micah Whitaker, granddaughter Annie Little, husband Andrew, grandson Nathan Smith, wife Evelyn, granddaughter Mallory Smith, husband Will and sister-in-law Wanda Keith of Littleton Colorado.
Tommie was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and had been active in the pro-life organization Right to Life.
Tommie was an avid artist and collector. She painted, she sewed, and she also created stained glass. Her favorite art was birds, specifically hens and roosters and her home was full of them! Tommie had a quick wit and was know by many in the Abilene community.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US-277 S, Abilene, TX.
Memorial donations may be made in Tommie's name to The Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall building fund.
