Sue Ellen Young, 72, of Abilene passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 in Wichita Falls, TX.

Sue was born on December 6, 1947 in Wichita Falls, TX., to parents Clyde Mills and Vera Matthews Mills. She married Richard Young on October 8, 1965. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage until Richard passed away in September 2012. Sue worked at Super Duper grocery stores in Abilene for many years in various positions. She also owned a restaurant, was a deli manager, ran a snack bar, and also worked several years in the cafeteria at Wylie Jr. High. She also enjoyed volunteering with R.S.V.P. Sue was happiest when she was with family, and really enjoyed cooking for and with them. She was an animal lover and they all loved her so much, especially her dog Maddie.

Sue is survived by her children: Pam Coats and husband Kevin of Wichita Falls, TX; Kim Potter of Abilene, TX; Rick Young and wife Merrideth of Abilene, TX. Grandchildren: Kelsey Reinke and husband Nathan, Kolton Coats, Chris Wise, Cody Potter, Casey Potter and wife Cheyanne, Tyler Young and wife Meagan, Tiffany Nichols and husband Landon. Great Granddaughter: Peyton Wise. Sister: Joyce Pullin, Brother: Billy Mills, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and a sister.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the American Kidney Fund or the charity of your choice.

The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Dr. Fakhoury, Dr. Swarna, and the many other providers that have helped care for her over the years.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 2 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Please be aware of current Covid 19 precautions and restrictions, current occupancy allowed is 50% (100) guest.
