Sandra Greene

May 30, 1964 — April 29, 2023

Sandra Denise Greene was born in Abilene, Texas on May 30, 1964 to the proud parents of Floyd and Annie Lois Green. She passed from her earthly life on April 29, 2023 at Hendricks North Medical Center surrounded by family members.

Sandra graduated from Cooper High School, Class of 1983. In high school, Sandra competed in Track and Field events. She gained the nickname "Greenlight" due to her spectacular moments. She broke the Possum Relays record in the 100-meter hurdles. She made a gutsy anchor run that turned a fifth place Cooper finish in the 400-meter relay in Odessa, Texas into a first place run. She was a talented sprinter. She finished as a state-class hurdler. She competed in the West Texas Relays and Big Spring's ABC Relays. She signed with Abilene Christian University in which, she received a track scholarship after her high school graduation.

Sandra is a very selfless woman; she cares too much about others. She will do anything to make you feel better, indeed an angel in flesh. She was also known as Bingo Queen, a nickname one of her nieces tagged her as a toddler, and she wore that name so proudly. She traveled abroad, she loved going on cruises to the different islands and countries.

Sandra served the State of Texas working for 28 years at the Abilene State Supported Living Center where she retired in 2016. Sandra was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan; she looked forward to watching them during the football season with her Cowboy gear on. Sandra's biggest love of all was her children and family.

Sandra was very caring and had such a nurturing bond to all who traveled her path. She loved being there for her grandchildren; she would load them all up in her SUV and take them to the swimming pool, fair grounds, and waterparks throughout the city. She was such a kind and generous person. To know her is to love her. She put so much effort and love in cooking big meals. Family gatherings were important to Sandra; she enjoyed when the family would come together and reminisced about the good times.

During her lifetime, Sandra did the one thing that was important to her, and that was dedicating her life to caring for her home and family. That family consisted of a lifetime partner; Henry Sr. (Hank), two sons; Terrence (Martha), and Henry (Sarah) and eleven grandchildren. Proceeded her in death were her three brothers Billy Don Daniels, Marvin T. Daniels, and Floyd (Bubba) Green; her parents Annie Lois Williams, and Floyd Green; stepfather; Melvin Wayne Williams, two uncles William Cook, Jr., and Bobby Joe Cook; two aunts Opal Lee Cook, and Dorothy Jean Crain; two nephews Yancy Daniels, and Rodney Williams; and one great nephew Torrance Wall.

Left to cherish her memories are siblings; Dorothy Greene of Houston; Opal Gary (Garry) of Abilene; Rickey Green (Yolanda) of Midland; Renee Wilcox (Greg) of Arlington; Debra Burfict of Abilene; and Regina Williams-Watkins (Wayne) of Abilene.
