Sammy Bouchillon

July 23, 1941 — July 10, 2021

Sammy was born in Brownwood, TX on July 23, 1941, to parents, Homer and Vera Bouchillon. After losing his parents in a train accident when he was 2 years old, he went to live and be raised by his aunt and uncle, Addie and Merrel. He attended high school in Midland and after school began working in the oil field. He worked most of his career as a truck driver including twenty-two years with Pride Refinery.

He married Joan in 1977 and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. He enjoyed attending Potosi Baptist Church where he was a church member. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Sammy enjoyed studying genealogy, fishing, and travelling. He was his most happy while spending time with his family, watching the grandkids play sports, and spending time with his little buddy, Blake.

He is survived by his wife, D. Joan Bouchillon; his daughters, Jo Beth Thomsen and husband Greg of South Korea, Kelly Polsue and husband Ben of Gladewater, Tammy Smith and husband Mark of Abilene, Jennifer Turner of Anson, and Sonja Martinez and husband Felipe of Abilene; his son, James Rutherford and wife Misty of Rotan; and “bunches” of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Vera Bouchillon; Uncle and Aunt, Merrel and Addie Bouchillon; his sister, Audrey Guthrie; and Son-in-law, Guy Turner.
