Ruth Cranor

Ruth Eileen Cranor, 88, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4515 S 14th St, Abilene, TX 79605. Visitation will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX 79606. Interment will be Monday, August 30, 2021 at 9 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Ruth was born on December 24, 1932 in Casper, Wyoming to the late Sherel McKinzie and Anna Ruth Walt McKinzie. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in nursing. Ruth married Aubrey Cranor III on December 7, 1956 and were blessed with 40 years of marriage until his passing on July 22, 1997. She was very active and volunteered for Hendrick Hospice, Abilene Public Library, Meals on Wheels, and the Grace Museum. Ruth was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the NCO retired Wives Club. She enjoyed gardening and yardwork as well as traveling. Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Ruth was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sherel McKinzie, Dickie McKinzie; sister, Mary Yetman.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Daniel Cranor and wife Michelle, Thomas Cranor; daughter, Mary House, and husband Shaun; grandchildren, Kacee Cranor, Jack House, John House, Anna House; sisters, Donna Bertz and Cindy Gilleland; numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
