Dr. Randall J. Lea, 88, of Abilene passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Abilene.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX, 79606. The service will be live-streamed and the family invites you to access the live-stream at www.elmwoodfuneral.com/Randall-lea.

Randall was born on July 2, 1932 in Jefferson, Texas to the late John Aubrey Lea and Bessie McDonald Lea. He gre up in Nacodoches, Texas where he graduated from high school and received his MBA from Stephen F. Austin University. He served and retired from the US Air Force, then he received his doctorate in education from North Texas University. He worked and retired after many years in the field of education. Randall married Carol Burgess on November 9, 1956 in Harlingen, Texas, they were blessed with one daughter and 56 years of marriage until Carol’s passing in June of 2013. Randall raised cattle and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lifelong Methodist and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Randall is survived by his daughter, Connye Owen (Stephen); grandchildren, Ashley Phillips (Jason), Austin Owen; great grandchildren, Jake Owen, Harrison Carter, Creed Phillips; brother, Allen Lea (Sandra); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Randall was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Lea.
