She entered this world on February 12, 1944, in Texas, the cherished daughter of Rafael Marquez and Eloise Flores. Rachel's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will forever shine brightly in their memories.
Rachel dedicated a significant part of her life to serving others through her work at the Abilene State School. Beyond her work, Rachel found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She delighted in playing Bingo and immersing herself in crossword puzzles. Her creative talents shone through her love for arts and crafts, and she poured her heart into her crocheting projects.
Rachel's love for her family knew no bounds. She treasured her time spent with her sisters, embarking on outings filled with shopping and enjoying meals together. Cooking for her children and grandchildren during the holidays brought her immense happiness, as she sought to create lasting memories and demonstrate her love through delicious meals and treats.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael Marquez and Eloise Flores, as well as two beloved daughters, Debbie Cisneros and Gloria Arellano. Her sisters, Elida Carrion and Lily Alvarez, also preceded her in entering eternal rest. Though they are no longer physically present, their memory will forever live on in Rachel's heart and in the hearts of those who loved them.
Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Becky Quevedo and Sandra Chacon, who were the center of her universe. Her legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren: Joseph Arellano (Valerie), Michelle Washington (Danielle), Monica Arellano, Marissa Quevedo (Armando), Freddie Chacon Jr. (Jessica), Joshua Cisneros, Alisha Quevedo (Chris), Christopher Chacon (Jody), Michael Chacon (Candice), Jacob Arellano (Joann), Sara Chacon (Henry), and Naomi Cisneros. Additionally, she leaves behind 50 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, a testament to the love and joy she cultivated within her family.
Rachel's siblings, Peggy Santana (Julio), Jake Marquez (Lupe), Ricky Flores, and Philip Flores, were not only her brothers and sisters but also her lifelong companions. Their bond was unbreakable, and they shared in both the joys and challenges of life. Rachel also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were blessed to have known her and experienced her warm and loving presence.
Rachel Marquez Arellano was a woman of unwavering faith in Christ. Her Christian values permeated every aspect of her life, and she exemplified love, kindness, and compassion to all who crossed her path.
