R. T. Spicer

R.T. Spicer, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, March 10, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Memorial Park.

R.T. was born August 29, 1930, in Quinton Oklahoma to Raymond and Minnie Spicer. He married Jimmie Lou Barker on December 6, 1951. After 67 years of marriage, she passed away March 14, 2019. R.T. joined the Navy in 1953 and served 4 years on a Naval ship. The couple with their children moved to Abilene, Texas in 1972. R.T. was a hardworking machinist for 25 years at General Dynamics. After retiring he enjoyed his church family at Southwest Park Baptist Church. He also spent lots of time in his shop woodworking, and loved watching sports, Nascar, Gospel singing, and many many hours listening to his cassette tapes. R.T. leaves a legacy of love and dedication for generations to come.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Spicer; his parents, Raymond and Minnie Spicer; one sister; and four brothers.

R.T. is survived by his children, Doug Spicer and wife Karen of Glenpool OK, Richard Spicer and wife Angie of Abilene, TX, David Spicer and wife Susan of Abilene, TX, Sid Spicer and wife Kimberly of Sachse, TX, Teresa Lee and husband John of Lubbock, TX; and Patricia Westin and husband Eddie of Lubbock, TX; his grandchildren, Susan Rivers, Dennis Spicer, Lori Loftus, Jenny Spicer, Ryan Spicer, Cory Martin , Jennifer Honea, Kristi Perry, Kimberly Polnick, Lane Watts, Stephanie Spicer, Matthew Spicer, Abigail Spicer, Tim Kute, Josh Kute, Brandon Kute, Christopher Cummings, and Jessica Cummings; 38 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Rudolf Spicer of McAlester, OK.
