Onnie Wrencher

March 20, 1927 — January 2, 2021

Onnie Mae Wrencher, 93, of Abilene, Texas passed from her earthly life on January 2, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. The Viewing will be Friday, January 15, 2021 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Elmwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Ms. Wrencher was born in Vivian, Louisiana to the late Augusta Jones and Ollie Mae Moore. She worked several years for Hendrick Medical Center, she also had previously worked for Mrs. Bernard Hanks, part owner of the Harte-Hanks Abilene Reporter News, until Mrs. Hanks death in 1967. She then answered a “help wanted” ad in the Abilene Reporter News Paper for Busch’s and the rest is history. Onnie went to work for Busch’s Jewelry and the Frank Fite family in 1967 until her retirement after 46 years of being their special Jewel.

Ms. Wrencher was a faithful member of Antioch CME Church where she was a member of the Stewardess Board and also a faithful member of the Usher Board. She was a member of the Citywide Ushers. She was also honored at the State of Texas convention for 55 years of service as an Usher. She was a member of the Rooster Channel Jumper CB club. Onnie loved to play dominoes with her sister Imogene as her partner. She loved to fish and enjoyed her family.

Ms. Wrencher is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marsha Elaine Jones, daughter Gloria Foreman, son Andri Jackson and sister Imogene Lott.

Ms. Wrencher is survived by her son Jimmie Jackson, daughter Carolyn Hines (Billy), her grandchildren Vincent Jones, Aquilla Smith, Gerald Bailey, Senta Jackson, Charemon Peery, Rozlyn Thomason, Jacque Peery, Lecrecia Bailey and Jackie Jackson. 27 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other family members. She was known by alot of people in the community that loved to call her mother.
