June 2, 1928 — January 7, 2021

Nathan Craig Lewis, 92, passed away on January 7, 2021, with his wife, Judy, keeping vigil by his side. He resided at The Woodlands in Eastland, Texas. Even though illness took him from this life, his strong Christian devotion and love of family left behind a legacy of faith for family and friends.

Craig was born on June 2, 1928, to Loy and Vada Lewis, in Memphis, Texas. He graduated from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas and taught school for 3 years. During the Korean conflict in1950, he was called to serve in the 5th Armored Division of the Army out of Fort Chaffe, Arkansas. On May, 19, 1951, Craig and Julia Ann (Judy) Barrow were married and began a long, happy life together. After discharge from the Army, they moved to Denver City, Texas, where Craig began working in personnel for Frontier Chemical which later became Vulcan Chemical. Craig continued to work for Vulcan Chemical in Wichita, Kansas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Declining a transfer to New Jersey, he and Judy set off on a new career path where Craig became a securities investment agent for Church Loans and Investment Trust and Great Nation Investment Corporation. During this time they resided in Plainview and Amarillo. A devoted student of the Bible, Craig taught an adult Bible class at Central Church of Christ in Amarillo. Craig also pursued real estate opportunities in Odessa, and he and Judy worshipped at Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ. When Craig retired, he and Judy relocated to Abilene, Texas, where they were very active at Southern Hills Church of Christ and enjoyed their adult Bible classes. Craig received recognition for his faithful service to Meals on Wheels, and he and Judy were advocates for children, supporting the work of Hendrick Home for Children, Foster’s Home for Children, Lubbock Children’s Home, and St. Jude’s Hospital for children.
