Michael Karr

April 5, 1959 — July 21, 2020

Michael John Karr, 61, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, in Abilene.

Mike was born in Abilene Texas on April 5, 1959 to John “Dub” Karr and Norma Jo Karr Stoecker.
He grew up in Abilene until his parents moved to the Wylie area in 1968. He graduated from Wylie High School in 1977 and then attended TSTC in Sweetwater and graduated with an associates degree in automotive mechanics. Mike worked in the oilfield industry for many years and repaired oilfield pumps. He worked 25 years with his brother, Marty at Circle K Oilfield Supply before retiring. Everyone that knew Mike knew what a hardworking, honest, kind and gentle man he was. Mike was also a strong man who over the past 20 years has battled cancer, and multiple other health conditions and major surgeries and never complained. He has amazed many physicians over the years at how he overcame some many hurdles in his life. When Mike was 16 his father passed away and later his mother married Paul Stoecker, whom Mike respected and loved deeply. His mother and Paul also preceded him in death.
Mike met Cindy in May of 1995 and they were married in Winters Texas on June, 20 1998. They lived in Winters on what Mike would call the “Yucca Ranch” until they moved back to Abilene in 2015.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; her parents, Dan and Wendy Monnig of Abilene, who loved Mike as their own son; his brother and sister in-law, Marty and Patty Karr, of Port Aransas, his sister Suzanne Karr of Abilene; Step-Brother Tommy Stoecker and his girlfriend, Kelly Miller; his other step brother Michael Stoecker; step -sister Sharon Ellis and her husband John.

He also leaves dearest friends Wayne, Tina and Nikki Elkins of Eula, Texas and Zachary and Brandi Moeller also of Eula and their precious girls Brynlee and Brystal. Cindy’s brother and his wife, Mike and Lisa Monnig of The Colony and uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Mike and Cindy never had children but they were blessed to have the opportunity in being a part of Nikki’s life as she was growing up and Mike could not have loved a child of his own anymore than he loved his “Nik”. He always cherished the times Nikki was with us and Nikki will always have him as her guardian angel.

Those wishing to remember Mike may do so with a donation to Rescue the Animals. Mike can now be with his precious Duke and Walter once again.

Mike you will be forever missed and loved and we were all truly blessed to have you in our lives.
Visitation will be Monday July 27, 2020 at 1:00pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm. He will be cremated and interment will be at a later date.
