Marlene Farr

April 2, 1933 — February 18, 2021

Marlene Farr, 87, of Abilene, went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 18, 2021, after a brief illness.
She was born to H.R. "Bud" and Stella McKeever on April 2, 1933 in Ola, Ark., and moved with the family to Texas in 1943. She graduated from Merkel High School in 1951.
After high school, Marlene had a 35-year career with Southwestern Bell. She married Wayne Farr in 1974, and enjoyed being stepmom to his three children and their spouses, and "MeMar" to his three grandchildren.
Marlene avidly watched all kinds of sports and was a loyal fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Rangers. Her other hobbies included going to the movies, traveling and working word find puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She greatly valued spending time with her family and friends over a good cup of coffee at her kitchen table and enjoyed blessing them with a piece of her amazing Chocolate Wacky Cake. She especially loved being around babies, children and dogs, and she had great fun watching hummingbirds come to her backyard feeder.
Very active in her church, Marlene loved music and singing in the choir- especially hymns, and was passionate about supporting church mission projects. She was always very generous with her money and loved blessing others financially whenever there was a need-both as a young adult for her younger siblings who were still at home-and later for anyone who needed it who came across her path.
She was greatly beloved by her five siblings and their spouses, and had a close relationship with many of her 11 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews, and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, H.R. "Bud" and Stella McKeever; husband, Wayne Farr; brothers, Jim McKeever and Buddy McKeever; and niece, April Messenger. She is survived by her brother, Carl McKeever (Lane), of Murrietta, Calif.; sister, Mary Messenger (LeRoy), of Abilene; Ronnie McKeever (Diane), of Katy, Tex.; her three stepchildren, Lisa Stanford (Rick), Lori Griffin (Rick) and Britt Farr (Melissa) and stepgrandchildren, Clay Stanford, Marissa Griffin and Darren Griffin; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be great missed here, but those who loved her rejoice in knowing that she is at home with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8).
