Marie Gomez

Marie Gomez, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in Abilene, Texas. Family will receive friends and family at visitation from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Graham St Iglesia De Cristo, 2158 Graham Street, Abilene Texas. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Marie was born December 31, 1947 in Abilene, Texas to Sylvester and Consuelo Gomez. She attended Abilene Schools and graduated from Abilene High School in 1966. After high school she attended Draughts Commercial College. Marie started working at Timex, then became a classifier in the cotton division of the USDA. She left USDA to work for Banyan Corporation as a supervisor and retired in 2015. Marie enjoyed attending Abilene High sporting events and any sporting event her great nephew and great niece were a part of. Quilting blankets for family and friends was a cherished hobby of Maries also. Most of all Marie enjoyed family gatherings and being with her family. Marie will always be in our hearts and her presence will forever be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Consuelo Gomez; and her sister Elida Gomez.
Marie is survived by her sister, Norma Sierra and husband Jose; her nephew, Eloy Gomez; her great nephew and niece, Eric Lozano, and Carter May Gomez; favorite cousin, Merle Pallarez; and numerous cousins and friends.
