Marcela Serrano

February 12, 1990 ~ April 28, 2023 (age 33) 33 Years Old

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marcela Serrano, who went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2023, at the young age of 33. A visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM at Beltway Park South Campus, 4009 Beltway South, Abilene, Texas. Interment will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene at 2:00 PM.

Marcela was born on February 12, 1990, in Mexico, to her loving parents, Juan Martinez Huerta and Maria DeJesus Vazquez Hernandez. She grew up in a large family and had two sisters, Lorena and Obdulia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

Marcela moved with her family to Eldorado, Texas, at the age of 7, where she graduated from Eldorado High School. She then joined the United States Air Force on April 19, 2011, and proudly served her country for 10 years. It was during her time in the Air Force that she met her loving husband, Gamaliel Serrano.

Marcela had a passion for the outdoors and loved hiking, camping, running, and any other outdoor activities that involved adventure. She was a true health enthusiast and believed in eating healthy to take care of her body. She had a great sense of humor and was always making those around her laugh.

Marcela's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and God always came first in everything she did. She read the Word of God daily and loved to worship the Lord. She had a heart for missions, as spreading the love of Christ was very important to her.

Marcela was a very giving person, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her family was her world, and she loved her husband, Gamaliel, and their three daughters, Akira, Kylie, and Selah, more than anything.

Marcela's untimely passing has left a deep void in the lives of all those who knew and loved her. However, we find comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. Her spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
