Linda Keller

March 27, 1943 — January 2, 2021

Linda Richard Keller, 77 of Midland, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in Midland, Texas. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. A service will follow at 7:30 pm led by Pastor Robert Murphy of Alamo Heights Baptist Church of Midland. On Thursday the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Memorial Park led by son-in-law, Mike Thibodeaux.
Linda was born March 27, 1943 to Lynn J. and Lucille Richard of Thibodaux, Louisiana. On January 26, 1964 she married Wayne Keller of New Iberia, Louisiana. Their first child was a son named David Wayne Keller born August 18, 1965 in DeRidder, Louisiana. A daughter, Deborah Jean Keller was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana on December 11, 1969. She attended Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana and graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Linda had a passion for studying the Word of God and sharing how others could have Jesus Christ as their Savior. She had many bibles marked with the passages that were so meaningful to her. Many pages of notes were written as a result of the revelation and insight she gained from the bible. She and her husband served as Louisiana Baptist Missionaries in Thornwell, Louisiana and Cloutierville, Louisiana. They later served as international missionaries to Brazil with the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. In the course of being a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Linda experienced God’s divine appointments through work as: a missionary to Brazil, a chaplain for MarketPlace Ministries, a teacher of English as a second language, and a classroom teacher in public and private schools. Among her favorite tasks were teaching Sunday school, and Vacation Bible School as a bible teacher. She also was involved in ministry programs through the Jesus Film follow-up, Christmas store witnessing, block programs, neighborhood outreach for children and for women. She enjoyed speaking in women’s retreats, teaching on prayer, and sharing our faith. Linda’s family was a special joy to her. She gave herself unselfishly to being a wife, mother, daughter and sister. Perhaps a favorite title was being MiMi to her grandchildren: Jordan Elisabeth Thibodeaux, Michaela Grace Thibodeaux and Zach David Thibodeaux whose parents are Deborah Jean Keller Thibodeaux and Mike David Thibodeaux.
Her family that remains includes her husband, Howard Wayne Keller; son, David Wayne Keller of Hewitt, Texas; daughter, Deborah Jean Keller Thibodeaux and husband Mike David Thibodeaux of Portland, Oregon; her three grandchildren; sister, Joan Richard Knight of Abilene, Texas and her three daughters and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn J. Richard and Lucille Bates Richard, and her Richard and Bates grandparents.
She would be pleased that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Child Fund International, Gideon’s International, or Alamo Heights Baptist Church of Midland, Texas.
