Kenneth Kirk

Kenneth Daniel Kirk passed away on February 27, 2023, at Hendrix Hospice Facility in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 6, 2023, 2:00pm, at the Kirk Private Cemetery in Truby, TX. Elmwood Funeral Home will be providing burial services and Brother Jeffrey Fenwick of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will be conducting the graveside eulogy.

Kenneth was born in Oklahoma City, OK on June 21, 1934, to Dewey Elmer and De Lois Kirk. The family moved to the Jones County Texas area where Kenneth attended Anson schools and graduated from Anson High School in 1952.

Kenneth married Ellie Jo Grissom on November 4, 1956. They moved to Long Beach, CA where he served two years in the United States Navy as a "END3" (Engineman Diesel PO3). Ellie bore their first child, a daughter, Katheryn LaNell (currently of Anson, TX) in Long Beach.

After returning to Truby, TX, he chose driving trucks as his profession and retired from Oil Transport and Gypsum Transport after 25 years of service. Ellie bore him three more children, a son Terry Dale of Truby, TX, another daughter Cynthia Ann of Weatherford, TX. and another son, Jeffery Daniel of Loveland, CO.

After he retired, Kenneth worked on the farm in Truby and was a trader of antiques.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife Ellie Jo and great grandson Jordan. He is survived by his four children, blessed with 10 grandchildren, double blessed with 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
