John Hlava

July 13, 1983 — January 19, 2022

John Michael Hlava, 38, passed away unexpectedly on January 19th.

John was the youngest of 4, born on July 13, 1983 to Michael & Gloria Hlava in Elk City, OK. He spent his childhood in Abilene, TX and attended Crockett & Austin Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and graduated Class of 2002 from Cooper High School.

His profession was welding but his passion was always music. As a teen he taught himself how to play the acoustic guitar and loved playing and singing for everyone. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing John will agree that he was one of a kind. He was loved dearly and will be missed terribly by so many.

John was preceeded in death by his father Michael Hlava and brother Carey Neumann.

He leaves behind his mother Gloria Hlava Hess, brother Randy Neumann, sister Connie Hlava McKenna and husband John, niece Kaycee Robles and husband Domingo, nephews Coltin Neumann, Dylan Mathews, & Brayden McKenna, niece's Taylor Webb, Randa Johnson, & Adalyn McKenna, great-nephews Ryder & Conner Robles and Bentley Neumann. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, & cousins. Also his extended family members Angela, Kyera & Ava Byars, Joanna Reeder and Austin Evans & family, and Kandace & Kelsie Copher who all held a special place in his heart.

Services will be held at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 26th at 11:00am immediately followed by graveside services at the same location.

The Chapel service will be available to stream live online.
