John Compere

May 10, 1954 — December 1, 2021

John "Randy" Randal Compere of Hurst, TX died Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, in Grapevine, TX after suffering a stroke. Randy was born in Abilene, TX on May 10th, 1954, to John and Johnnie Compere. The family moved throughout the country before finally settling down in Bowie, Md. As a young adult, Randy enjoyed his work at The Melwood Horticultural Training Center, a non-profit providing learning opportunities for disabled persons. He was an enthusiastic participant in Special Olympics and was proud of the many medals he earned. Randy made friends wherever he went and was always eager to share stories relating to his many interests, as well as his pictures and books. He loved animals, especially wolves, and enjoyed visiting the zoo. He also loved amusement parks such as Kings Dominion and Six Flags. His happy place was Ocean City, MD and he never tired of visiting, enjoying the boardwalk, the Haunted House, and his favorite ride, the Tilt-A-Whirl. A fan of movies, he loved going to the theater and watching his own extensive collection at home. He was a shameless supporter of Alvin and the Chipmunks and never tired of listening to their Christmas album.

After the passing of his parents, Randy moved back to Texas where he could be closer to his sister Carol and her family. He enjoyed many years being well cared for and surrounded by his loving Texas family, including many visits with his aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. He taught many lessons of love and patience and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Kathy and Carol. He is survived by brothers Rob (Joan) and Dave (Debbie), brother-in-law Tim Heup, as well as his nieces and nephews, Kristin (Steve), Brian, Patrice, Gretchen, Allie, and John. Funeral arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Special Olympics.
