Janell Thomas

On May 26, 2021, Frances Janelle "Jan" Thomas, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into heaven at the age of 75 and joined her husband, Lee Thomas.

Jan was born on December 15, 1945 in California. Jan moved to Abilene, Texas as a child and later married the love of her life, Lee on October 16, 1961. Together they had four children, Rhonda, Traci, Bubba and Janae. Her many accomplishments included graduating from Abilene High School and obtaining her cosmetology license, office management as well as working alongside her husband in the car business.

Jan loved crocheting, cooking, gardening and serving others at St Vincent De Paul of Abilene. She was devout Catholic and loved the Lord. She always loved singing and entertaining at family gatherings and her grandchildren were her most prized possession.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Thomas; father, Lester Sutton; mother, Frances Perry; daughter, Rhonda Thomas Wilson; daughter-in-law, Amber Thomas; son-in-law, Bob Kitchen; and great grandson, Jordan Kirk.

She is survived by her daughter, Traci Thomas Murphy of Lubbock, Texas; son, Lee Thomas Jr. "Bubba" of Port Aransas, Texas; daughter, Janae Thomas Welch of Abilene, Texas; and one brother, Danny Perry of Abilene, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Jason Young, Colton Wilson, Jeremy Kirk, Matthew Field, Justin Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Corey Furr, Blake Bilbrey, and Caleb Kitchen.
