JW Marr, 89, of Abilene, TX passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, in Abilene, TX.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX 79606. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by family friend and retired pastor, David Stevens. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

JW was born on June 27, 1932, in Shallowater, TX to the late Roy Marr and Bessie Daily Marr. He proudly served his country in the US Army. JW met the love of his life, Madry J Sandefur on a blind date. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage until she passed away on July 13, 2018. JW went to work for Merchant Fast Motor Lines as a truck driver in 1955 and retired in 1997. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. JW was a good cook and was especially known for his brownies. JW was a member of First United Methodist Church.

JW is survived by his son, Loyd Marr, and wife Helen; grandchildren, Carrie Denson, Justin Marr, and wife Kimberly; great grandchildren, Emma Jones, Kinsley Marr, Colt Marr; extended family and friends.

JW was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Wayne Marr.
