Harold Johnston

May 6, 1939 — December 27, 2021

Harold Franklin (Frank) Johnston peacefully left his earthly vessel and entered into the presence of his Savior December 27th at the age of 82.

Frank (as he was known to his family and friends) was born May 6, 1939 in Logan County Oklahoma to Garland Franklin (Curly) Johnston and Minnie Williams. The family moved to Abilene, TX. in 1955. Frank worked in the oilfields before entering the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force from 1958-1962. While stationed at Dyess Airforce Base he married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Woolf on February 20, 1960.  He went back to work in the oilfields after the Air Force before eventually starting work in the Pest Control Industry. For many years he owned and operated Frank’s Pest Control. His customers knew him for his integrity and high quality of work. He then went to work for the Wylie Independent School District before retiring in 2015.

Frank was a selfless individual who loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church serving faithfully in many areas of ministry. His passion was teaching God’s Word. He began teaching Sunday School in 1967 and through the years he taught almost every age group from young children to adults. He continued teaching until his health began failing.

If you knew Frank you knew he had a deep love for God, his wife and family, and others. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Della Henness of Warrensburg, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyce Johnston of Abilene, TX. Three children, Diana Mankin (Weldon) of Abilene, Scott Johnston (Carolyn) of Wabash, IN, and Tammy Parrish (Steve) of Abilene. Four siblings, Lorene Vaughan of Cedar Park, TX, Leroy Johnston of Spring Branch, TX, LaDonna Johnston-Page of Edmond, OK, and Larry Johnston of Crescent, OK, Ten grand-children and Twenty-two great grand-children, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who were influenced by his life.
