George Partin

d. September 10, 2022

April 25, 1945 - September 10, 2022
George Truett Partin passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2022, and WALKED with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into the Kingdom of Heaven. George lived as a quadriplegic for 57 years, having been in a tragic car accident when he was 20 years old, and his greatest prayer was to Walk with Jesus. God answered George's glorious prayer early Saturday morning with his loving brother and best friend, Robert by his side in his final moments on earth. George was surrounded by many family members and loved ones in the days and hours prior to his graduation to Heaven.

George was born April 25, 1945, in Abilene, Texas to J. W. "Jim" Partin, Sr., and Vanita Bowe Partin. A Baptist Minister, George's father Jim baptized him when he was a young boy, in a local stock tank, while pastoring Eula's First Baptist Church. Vanita, a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, taught George how to go above and beyond and innovate with his medical care, lessons that allowed him to live a fulfilling life for nearly six full decades after his accident.

George was a graduate of Cooper High in 1963 where he was involved in numerous activities including being a star running back on the Cougar Football team. George made up for his lack of size on the gridiron with his speed and relentless determination. The latter served him well throughout his life, especially after he became disabled. He was in the Marching Band at Texas Tech University during his Freshman year. George was a member of Acacia Fraternity at Oklahoma State University during his Sophomore year. He received both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business from Hardin Simmons University in 1968 and 1972, respectively.

He joined Jimmy Partin Realtors while in graduate school at HSU, before leaving in 1980 to act as the Broker Realtor for a Houston based builder. He changed careers in 1984 to become the trading room manager for a Houston futures money management firm. One year later, he received his futures money manager designation, and started his own business as a money manager in the futures market. He moved back to Abilene in 1989, continuing his business there. George remained active in real estate brokerage and management in his later years.

In the 1970's he was active with the Abilene Jaycees, where he was awarded Jaycee of the year in 1976. Two years later, he was decorated as a Life Time Member of the Abilene Jaycees and was later given the designation as JCI Senator, the highest honor by a local chapter.

George was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church where he was involved with the prayer room and prayer committee. Most of the 1990's, he coordinated staffing the prayer room during the Sunday morning worship services. Prior to joining Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, in the 70's, George taught Bible Study for middle school boys of Belmont Baptist Church of Abilene. While living in Houston, George was a member of Second Baptist Church. George had a strong faith and love for our Lord, Jesus Christ. George's life and constant positive attitude was a tremendous testimony as well as an inspiration to all who knew him.

"His Master said to him, 'Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter into the Joy of your Master.'" Matthew 25:23

George was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Partin, Sr. and Vanita Bowe Partin; half-brothers,

J. W. Partin, Jr., and Charlie Partin. George is survived by his brother, Robert Bowe Partin (Sheila Howell Partin) of Houston; nephews, Jeff Partin (Suzanne), Bowe Partin (Sarah), and Samuel Truett Partin, all of Houston, William George Partin (Kelly), of Austin; Nieces, Carrie Roper (Josh) and Paige McInturff (Chris) of Houston; Great nieces and nephews, Grace and Henry Roper, Millie and Perrie Partin, Doak, Mabry, Charleston, and Truett Bowe McInturff, and Bobby Partin; Suzanne's daughter, Christie Besse (Paul), and Isaac, Coralynn, and Kessler Besse; his uncle, Richard Bowe; nephew Jimmy Partin, great nephews J'Layne (Lauren) Partin, Chris Fanning (Amy), all of Abilene; great niece, Sharla Gilhome (Kess); and numerous cousins.
