Gary Keeney

Gary Stephen Keeney, 67, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Clyde, Texas. Visitation will be 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 29, 2021 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Gary was born November 22, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee to David and Lucille Keeney. Fun loving, teasing, and funny guy are a few of the many attributes used to describe Gary. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed playing games with his family; especially uno, bingo, and old school video games. Gary was a huge fan of all sports but his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He had all names, stats, and even spouses names memorized for each player. His most favorite pastime was reading to his nieces and nephews. Gary was definitely selfless and never complained even if he wasn't in favor of the choice made for him. Gary was loved by anyone that knew him and his sweet spirit will be missed every day.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Lucille Keeney; and his niece, Michele Keeney.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Phyliss Booth of Lincoln, Arkansas, David Keeney and wife Kathi of Lake Fredrick, Virginia, and Patti McCaghren and husband David of Abilene, Texas; his nieces and nephews that he treated as his own, Melissa Richards and husband Chris, Clint Berry, Mandy Whisenhunt and husband Jon, Stefanie Keeney, Renee Bissett and husband Michael, Shelby Helm and husband Brian, Brittany Davis and husband Jessie, and Haley McCaghren; and many great nieces and nephews that all loved him very much.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the Clyde Nursing Facility and Kindred Hospice for the love and care you gave Gary.
