Elizabeth Cortez Wheaton, 57, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in Abilene. A visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, on January 5, 2022 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM following the visitation.

Elizabeth was born February 25, 1964 in Throckmorton, Texas to Felipe and Sarah Cortez. She attended Smiley High School in Houston, Texas. Liz was a friend to anyone she met and always wore a beautiful smile on her face. She didn’t care who you were or where you came from. Her home was a home to all. She loved her family well especially her grandbabies. Above all Elizabeth was a God fearing woman that loved the Lord with all her heart. She was very loved and will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Genty Wheaton Jr.

Elizabeth is survived by her parents, Felipe and Sarah Cortez; her children, Marc Cortez, Jamie Cortez, Cynthia Wheaton, and Ashlee Wheaton; her ten grandchildren, Xavier, Isabella, Ayden, Braidyn, Allyson, Elijah, Amara, Skylar, Savannah, and Hunter; her siblings, Gregory Cortez, Christopher Cortez, Adam Cortez, Deborah Espinoza Cortez, and Annette Cortez; her sister at heart, Tina Hernandez; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
