Billy Clemon Andrews passed away on Tuesday July 26, 2022 in Abilene, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday August 1, 2022 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Billy was born on April 12, 1936, in Ruston, Louisiana to Jerry and Lillie Mae Andrews. Billy joined the United States Air Force in August 1954 and served his country for 20 years, retiring in September of 1974. Billy was stationed at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Tx when he met the love of his life, Maria Louisa Luevano. They married in 1957, and together enjoyed 63 years of blissful marriage until Maria's passing on May 26, 2021. The couple traveled with the Air Force and were stationed at multiple locations before settling in Abilene at Dyess Air Force Base. After retirement Billy went on to work for the City of Abilene in the Parks and Recreation Department and retired after over 21 years of dedicated employment.
Billy enjoyed going to the casino, playing Sudoku and playing cards with his family every night, who he would strategically try to beat every time. He also enjoyed fishing and driving his family on vacations. Billy will be deeply missed but is now rejoicing with his wife, and their legacy will carry on for generations to come.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, parents and brothers Jack Andrews, Jerry Andrews Jr., and sister Elizabeth Ambrose.
Billy is survived by his children, Billy C. Andrews Jr., Tony Andrews and his wife Jan, Nancy Hall and her husband Phillip, and Paul Andrews and his wife Lyn; his eight grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Preston, Chris, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Jeffery, and Aaron; eight great grandchildren; his sisters, Frances Elliott and Judy McCarthy; and his nieces, Yolanda Finnegan and husband Dan, and Yvonne Norman and husband Fritz; and nephew Richard Duran.
Billy is also leaving behind his very good friend and companion for the past year, his cat Smokey.
