Winnie Youngquist

Winnie Katherine Youngquist (n'ee Hartman) went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 16th, 2024. Winnie was born on August 23rd, 1936, in Lockney, Texas to the late Harry Russell Hartman and Mamie Lou Hartman. She had been a resident of Wedgewood South assisted living in Lubbock since September, 2021.

Winnie spent her childhood on her family's farm in South Plains, Texas. She attended school in Floydada and graduated high school on May 28th, 1954. She met Vernon Youngquist on a blind date and they later married on April 10th, 1955.

Winnie enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and volunteering at Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene, where she and Vernon were devoted members. She also worked for Abilene ISD, retiring after 25 years of service.

Winnie was married to her beloved Vernon for 65 years, prior to his passing on November 9th, 2020. She was also proceeded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Edward, Roy, and James Hartman.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Elaine Dixon and husband Michael, and son, Russell Jay Youngquist and wife Charlotte, brothers Bob Hartman of Lubbock and Charles Harry Hartman of Amarillo, along with her grandchildren Erin Smith, Scott Dixon and Ryan Youngquist, and many great grandchildren.

We hope you can join the family to celebrate Winnie's life on Friday, March 22. Services begin at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church, in Abilene TX, the Alzheimer's Association, or Bridge Hospice, in Lubbock TX.
