Wayne Alan Yates, 58, of Hawley, TX passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 in Abilene, TX.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Beltway Park Church Chapel, South Campus, 4009 Beltway South, Abilene, TX 79606.

Wayne was born on April 18, 1963 in Dallas, TX to Charles Ray Yates and Nancy Ruth Starkey Yates. He worked for many years as a truck driver until his retirement. "Pops" as he was affectionately called by his family enjoyed watching OU football, OU girls' softball and the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved to play with his grandkids, jump on the trampoline and was always first at any family function. What "Pops" was most known for was his love of coffee every morning at the Dunkin Donuts. He loved the Lord and was a member of Beltway Park Church. Pops will be dearly missed.

Serving as Wayne's pallbearers, Greg Brooks, Adam Burnett, Bob Clark, Joey Sheehy. Serving as honorary pallbearers Brantlee ""BB" Brooks and Emmett Burnett.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Lacy Brooks and husband Greg, Katlin Burnett, and husband Adam; grandchildren, Brantlee "BB" Brooks, Raylee Brooks, Emmett Burnett; sister, Carol Ann Clark, and husband Robert; his father, Charles Yates; Lacy and Katlin's mom, Kelly Yates; stepfather Richard Gunter; his beloved fur baby, Cami; extended family and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by grandparents Robert L. & Ruth Starkey, Clyde & Ora Yates, his stepfather Robert Louis Starkey; mother Nancy Ruth "Meme" Starkey Yates.

Family request in lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's memory be made to Ben Richey Boys Ranch & Family Program or the charity of your choice.
