Wanda Jean Westbrook, a beloved mother, grandmother, passed away on November 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, 12:00Pm, at Elmwood Memorial Park, located at 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606

Born on June 15, 1946, in Knox City to Nathan and Gladys Mincey, her life was marked by a profound commitment to others and a passion for spreading love and kindness.

Wanda graduated from high school in Knox City and went on to achieve a bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons in Social Services. Her dedication to public service led her to a remarkable career as a social worker for the State of Texas, spanning over 40 years. Wanda displayed unwavering compassion, dedicating herself to making a positive impact in the lives of those she served, providing support and care to countless individuals and families in need.

Beyond her profession, Wanda was known for her creative spirit. She possessed a talent for sewing and was often found creating beautiful quilts that warmed the hearts of her loved ones. Her skills extended to the kitchen, where she delighted in baking cookies for her grandchildren, filling their hearts and tummies with warmth and love. Wanda's musical talents shone through as she played the piano at her church, uplifting the spirits of the congregation with her melodies.

A devoted and excellent grandmother, Wanda's love knew no bounds. She was not only a grandma to her biological grandchildren but extended her nurturing care to everyone she met. Her warm and welcoming presence touched the lives of many.

Married for forty-seven years to the late Darwin Westbrook, Wanda's love and commitment were unwavering. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship, creating a foundation of stability and happiness for their children and grandchildren.

Wanda Westbrook was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Darwin, and their son Christopher Westbrook.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Debbie Webb and husband Thomas, son, Bobby Westbrook, son, Michael Westbrook; her sister, Jerene Parks; a legacy of 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her grandson Dustin Westbrook, who she shared a special bond with and who lovingly helped care for her.

As we say our final farewell to this beautiful and compassionate soul, let us remember Wanda Jean Westbrook's kind heart, her unwavering love, and the countless lives she touched. May her legacy continue to inspire us to live with compassion, to love unconditionally, and to find joy in the simplest of moments. Wanda's spirit will forever reside within our hearts.
