Virginia "Earlyne" Abbott Reagan 83 years old, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at her home in Hawley surrounded by her family and beloved dog, Annie.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US Hwy 277 in Abilene. Funeral service will be 9:00 AM, Thursday, August 24, 2023, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Tye Cemetery in Tye, Texas.

Earlyne "Memaw" Reagan was born on May 15, 1940, in Tye, Texas to Earl and Ruthie Abbott. She married the love of her life, Robert Gene Reagan on August 16, 1957. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1958 while completing her senior year as a newlywed. She knew when she met Bobby in the 3rd grade at College Heights Elementary that she would marry him someday. She was so excited about it that she came home from school and told her sister Pat. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage before Bobby's sudden death in 2006.

Bobby and Earlyne went on to have three children Greg, Melanie, and Amy. She was incredibly active in her children's activities including scouts, classroom mother, softball coach and serving as the PTA President at Jane Long Elementary. She was the best hostess with a warm and inviting home. She often provided her kid's friends with yummy meals and treats. The Reagan house was a popular hangout!

She was an excellent seamstress and sewed clothes for the whole family. She and Bobby enjoyed years of Square Dancing with a big group of friends. The whole family would go to The Wagon Wheel for a night of Square Dancing dressed in matching shirts and dresses that she made. Another hobby she enjoyed was bowling. She bowled on numerous women's leagues as well as couples' leagues with Bob. Bobby and Earlyne loved to entertain guests, socialize, and go dancing. She was also a talented cake decorator. She baked many beautiful and tasty cakes for her family and friends.

She did the bookkeeping for her husband's business, Bob's Trim Shop, for many years. As her children grew older, she began to work outside of the home. She was employed at Triangle Bowling Lanes, Little Dudes and Dolls children's shop and Grigsby's. Most recently she worked at Laura's Boutique. She was a "people person" and loved working in retail. Memaw was quite the fashionista who loved bling and sparkle.

Bob and Earlyne left Abilene from 1987 to 2000 relocating to Alvin, Texas. Their family was thrilled when they decided to return to Abilene. While in Alvin she worked in the property management business.

Earlyne was a wonderful mother and taught her children how to be nurturing parents when their own children were born. She loved her role as a grandmother and enjoyed attending all of their sporting events and activities. She was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord with all of her heart.

Later in her life, she was blessed to have met a special friend, Von Marr, with whom she shared the last of her golden years. That relationship reignited her previous love of going out dancing with friends.

Earlyne was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years Bobby, parents Earl and Ruthie Abbott, sister Patsy Hudson, brother Cecil James and companion Von Marr.

Those left to treasure her memories are son Greg Reagan and wife Lori, daughter Melanie Reyes and husband Sam, and daughter Amy Chapman and husband Roger. Her grandchildren Lindsay Reagan, Chloe Garces and husband Tanner, Spencer Reyes and wife Maci, Grant Reyes, Reagan Chapman, and Ashton Chapman. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, sister-in-law Vicki Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roger Chapman, Tanner Garces, Greg Reagan, Grant Reyes, Sam Reyes, and Spencer Reyes.

Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care or Meals on Wheels of Abilene.
