Vickie Goode

Vickie Carol Goode, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, Mimi, educator, and inspiration to all who knew her, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the age of 65 in Abilene, Texas. Her life was a testament to strength, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, in Abilene, Texas.

Vickie was born on September 17, 1957, in Lamesa, Texas. She spent her formative years in Midland, Texas. Her innate humility and unassuming nature drew people to her wherever she went, making lifelong connections and leaving an indelible mark on those she encountered. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin University with a bachelor's degree in education, Vickie pursued her passion for teaching. She spent most of her teaching career at Reagan Elementary dedicating herself to shaping young minds, leaving an enduring impact on countless students who were fortunate enough to have her as their teacher.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Vickie's personal life was a true reflection of her character. She married and became a loving mother to two daughters, instilling in them the values of strength, kindness, and forgiveness. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and she cherished the role of being a mother and a Mimi above all else.

As a Mimi, Vickie found a new sense of purpose and joy. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she embraced this role with boundless love, wisdom, and enthusiasm. Vickie's ability to find beauty in every moment and her genuine appreciation for the simple joys of life were gifts she lovingly shared with her family.

Vickie's legacy is one of humility, love, and an unbreakable spirit. In her last days of reflection, she stated, "My intention was not to leave a legacy, but I always tried to just be a good person," embodying her selflessness and genuine nature. While she may not have sought recognition, her impact was undeniable, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the lessons she imparted.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Goode.

Vickie is survived by her mother, Darlene Goode; her sister, Staci Wilkinson; her two daughters, Megan Elling (John Black), and Haley Stuteville (Wyatt Stuteville); her grandchildren, Gavin Elling, Lorelai Black, Whit Stuteville, and Sadie Stuteville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Vickie will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, kindness, and the ability to find beauty in all things will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
