Vera Ballou

Vera Jo Ballou, 88, of Abilene, TX passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, in Aspermont, TX.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Brad, Cemetery in Brad, TX.

Jo was born on October 26, 1934, in Brad, TX to the late Julius Lonzo Stedman and Nancy Ann Heath Stedman. She married the love of her life Lawrence Allen Ballou in Mineral Wells on December 2, 1950 and had almost 72 years of life together. She now joins her beloved after his passing on December 1, 2022. Their main passion was serving the Lord. Jo worked for over 20 years for the state of Texas until her retirement.She also assisted Lawrence in serving in Baptist churches in El Paso, Cedar Hill, Abilene, and Aspermont. Jo adored her family, whom she dearly loved. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Aspermont.

Jo is survived by her loving children, Sherry Ballou, Jerre Freeman (Melvin), Lawrence Dwayne Ballou (Jim Garnsey), Cindy Petty (Doug); grandchildren, Kelli Mitchell, Melissa Dean, Nikki Hall (Isaac), Nathan McCarley (Vanessa), Lindsey Edging (Donny), Cody Petty (Adrianna), Will Petty, Seth Petty (Samantha); 20 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; numerous family and friends.

Jo was preceded in death by 3 sons, Monnie Ballou, Ronnie Ballou, Terry Ballou; a grandson, Luke Petty; 5 siblings.
