Sue Powers

Sue C. Powers, 64, of Anson passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019, in Abilene.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 5 to 7 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 10 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will take place on Thursday, May 9, at 10 AM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Sue was born on July 3, 1954, in Muncie, Indiana to the late George Howard Cooper and Grean Smith Cooper Lamb. She was lovingly reared by Wilma Waters, whom Sue called mom. She married the love of her life, John Patrick Powers on November 24, 1976, in Abilene, TX. Sue enjoyed life and loved her family with all her heart. She loved to garden, feed her birds and was known for being very kind-hearted. She loved the outdoors. Sue also enjoyed traveling and going to the casinos and gambling.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, John Powers of Anson, TX; 2 children, Amy Sue Powers and Christopher Powers of Anson, TX; grandson, Joshua Powers and wife Laci of Abilene, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Loretta Lambert and Jamie Powers of Abilene, TX; sister, Evonne Kennedy and husband Leonard of Stearns, KY; Step sister, Angie Allendorf; Dawn and Phillip Strunk, Jeff and Audrey Waters, Lori Waters Miller, Joe and Joy Waters, all of Stearns, KY; Tim Waters of Newport, KY; Libby and Jerry Pennington of Stearns, KY; dear friends, Hal and Angela Peters who have been very supportive.

Sue was also preceded in death by her mom, Wilma Waters and a son, Daniel Ray Owens.
