Born in Stamford, Texas, Steve spent his early years there and in McCamey before his family moved to Odessa in 1963. He attended school in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School before beginning what would become a long and accomplished career.
Steve began his professional journey with Cummins Sales and Service in Odessa as a sales trainee. He later transferred to Lubbock as a sales representative and went on to hold numerous sales and management positions in Fort Worth, Arlington, and Corpus Christi. He eventually settled in Houston, where he served as General Manager of Gulf Coast Operations. After leaving Cummins, he continued his career with the John Deere engine distributor as Vice President and General Manager. He later joined a division of Warren Cat, Perkins South Plains, and at the time of his retirement he was General Manager for PSP Engines as well as Industrial Business Unit Manager for Warren Cat.
Steve was dedicated to his work and found genuine fulfillment in his career. Though he never pursued traditional hobbies, he took great pride in his professional life and traveled extensively for business, visiting locations across the United States as well as Spain, China, and the United Kingdom.
Outside of work, Steve had a deep affection for animals-especially cats. He was well known, and often lovingly teased, for rescuing and adopting stray cats. At one point, his home was shared with as many as eight cats and two dogs, all of whom he cared for devotedly.
Steve is survived by his sister, Belinda Rambo of La Marque, Texas; his niece, Sierra Rambo of Seattle, Washington; his nephews, Colton Rambo and his partner, Faith Gantz, of Fremont, CA; and Clayton Rambo of La Marque, Texas.
