Steven Roberts

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Anthony Roberts, who left this world peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 70. Steven was born on May 26, 1955, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to Henry and Lois Roberts. He lived a life rich in experiences, love, and adventure.

Steven's journey took him around the world, shaped by his upbringing as the son of a dedicated Air Force father. He embraced the camaraderie and discipline of military life, serving in the Air Force for two years before earning an honorable discharge. Steven immediately pursued knowledge, studying Computer Science and Information Engineering at Georgia Tech, where his passion for technology and communication blossomed.

His professional life included time as a dedicated sales representative for Sears and Radio Shack. Later, Steven took pride in his roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he made many lasting connections and demonstrated his commitment to service. He was also known as a devoted ham radio operator, proudly holding the call sign KG5QH, which highlighted his lifelong love for communication and technology.

In 2014, Steven married the love of his life, Maria Luz Roberts. Together, they shared 11 wonderful years filled with joy and travel, creating beautiful memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Steven was a proud father to his two daughters, Mikayla and Kate, and he cherished the love he had for his sons, Micheal Roberts, Ryan Roberts who Preceded him. He welcomed two additional sons Rolando Verdida Jr, Jay Earl Verdida, and a daughter, Krizza Kristel Verdida, into his heart and family. Steven is survived by his beloved spouse, Maria Luz, and will forever be remembered as a loving father and grandfather to Anthony Roberts, Alex Roberts, and Elizabeth "ZiZi" Roberts.

Steven is also survived by his sisters Sherry Maloney and Karen Walters, with Karen preceding him in death. His family and friends will surely miss his laughter, kindness, and the wisdom he shared throughout his life.
A memorial service to celebrate Steven's life will be held on October 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. 5750 Hwy 277 South Abilene TX with James King Officiating.

As we gather to remember Steven, let us embrace the legacy he leaves behind-the love of family, the pursuit of knowledge, and the joy found in every moment of life. He touched many lives throughout his journey, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
