Simon Glen Arredondo Sr, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on July 24, 2026, at the age of 70. A lifelong resident of Abilene, Texas, Simon was born on February 27, 1956, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and work.

 Simon devoted many years of his career to the Gooch Packing Plant and Lockheed Martin before finding his passion as a delivery driver for AirGas, from where he retired. He was known for his commitment and reliability in his work, which mirrored his dedication to his family.

 In his early years, Simon attended St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church and later found a spiritual home at Beltway Baptist Church alongside his family. His faith was a guiding force in his life, shaping his values of love, kindness, and community. 

He is survived by his son Simon Arredondo Jr., daughter Christi Alvarez, his cherished grandchildren Asianna, Chevy, Aleze Arredondo, Izaiah, and Jeremiah Alvarez, and his great-grandchildren Ace and Ava Davila. Simon also leaves behind his loving sisters Anita Gomez and husband Ben, Mary Rodriquez and husband Ruben, Margie Lugo and husband Andres, and Irma Molina and husband Jesse, along with his bonus brother Martin Hernandez and many devoted nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy, Joe, and Rudy Arredondo, as well as both parents. 

Simon was a man content with life, who found joy in gardening, boasting a green thumb that allowed him to cultivate beautiful plants. He loved the outdoors and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He cherished fishing trips with Martin and will be remembered for his delicious secret BBQ beef ribs sauce recipe, which his son Simon Jr. has finally inherited. 

The visitation will be at Elmwood Funeral Home beginning Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 6:00 PM. a Rosary service at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at the Elmwood Cemetery located at 5750 HWY 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606. Following the graveside services, family and friends are invited to a reception at the funeral home.
