Sherry Byrd

June 5, 1961 — February 29, 2024

Sherry Lynn Byrd, 62, a beloved Christian woman, departed from this earthly home on February 29, 2024, in Abilene, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. A celebration of Sherry’s life will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 4, 2024, in the Elmwood Funeral Home’s Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Born in DeLeon, Texas, Sherry was the cherished daughter of Jackie and Carmaleta Byrd. Sherry graduated from Comanche High School in 1979 and embarked on a journey of service and care. For over five years, she served diligently at TCBY, spreading joy through her work. Her true calling, however, blossomed during her eight years as a nurse at Eastland Memorial Hospital, where she touched countless lives with her nurturing spirit.

In 2021, Sherry found profound fulfillment in joining New Beginnings Big Country, where her faith flourished. A true disciple of Christ, she lived by the principles of kindness, integrity, and righteousness. Her unwavering commitment to what was right earned her admiration from all who knew her.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Sherry embraced life with zest and enthusiasm. An adventurous soul, she found solace in the simple joys of collecting rocks and indulging in her passion for Charlie Brown, particularly her beloved Snoopy. She loved shopping, especially for shoes and bags.  However, Sherry's greatest source of joy was her role as a mother to Lauren and a cherished "she she" to Winzlee. Her love and devotion knew no bounds, and her family was her pride and joy.

Throughout her journey, Sherry's faith remained unwavering, even in the face of adversity. Diagnosed with cancer, she found solace and strength in her relationship with the Lord. Her faith grew exponentially, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who witnessed her unwavering trust in God's plan.

She is preceded in death by her Parents; and her nephew, Joey Byrd.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Lauren Elmore (Jake Jacobs) of Mingus, Texas; her granddaughter, Winzlee; her siblings, Rick Byrd, and Cindy Land (Thomas Land) both of Comanche, Texas; her nieces and nephews, BJ Land, Jackie Byrd, Allie Land, Abby Land, Randy/Checka Land; and numerous sisters in Christ with NBBC, and friends.

A special thank you to Missy, Kay, Shelley, and Hendrick Hospice for the love and care you provided for Sherry.

Sherry Lynn Byrd leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. While her physical presence may be absent, her spirit will continue to illuminate the lives of those she touched. May her soul find eternal rest in the embrace of her Heavenly Father, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
