Sharon Hopper

Sharon Sue Hopper, 80, of Abilene, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2025.

Born November 6, 1944, in Abilene to Milton and Mary Myers, Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose faith guided every part of her life. A lifelong and faithful Lutheran, she lived her beliefs with grace, kindness, and quiet strength.

On November 2, 1963, Sharon married the love of her life, Hazen “Dan” Hopper. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters: Laurie, Tracy, and Becky. Sharon worked for 14 years at WTU before serving as a teacher’s aide until her retirement. She was affectionately known by her students as “the angel lady” for always wearing an angel pin and sharing angel tokens with those around her. Her generosity and gentle spirit touched countless lives.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Mary Myers; her beloved husband, Hazen (Dan) Hopper; and her siblings, Melvin Myers, James Myers, and Catherine King.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Laurie Burleson, Tracy Griffon, and Becky (Duane) Humphrey; grandchildren Lauren Griffon, Heather (Johnathan) Collier, Justin Maddux, Bryan (Jessica) Burleson, Lexie (Andrew) Avera, and Don Bridges; and her cherished great-grandchildren Braxton Sconyers, Trinidee Collier, Jase Bullard, Cash Collier, Blake Burleson, Penelope Avera, and Bowen Burleson, and her brother, Royce Myers. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM  Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, followed by lunch and burial at the VA Cemetery.

Sharon’s faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
