Serva Dan Cuesta (Vita), 88, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.

Serva was born on October 23, 1937, in Tatoyuca, Veracruz, Mexico, to Fulgencio Serna and Petra Meraz. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. Serva found great joy in life's simple blessings. She loved crafts, especially needlework, attending church, watching Mexican movies, and most of all, reading her Bible. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her with strength, grace, and quiet devotion.

Serva Dan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family above all else. She is survived by her five children, Patricia Chavarria and husband Juan, Maria Eugenia Jimenez and husband Eduardo, Carlos Cuesta and wife Edith, and Manuel Cuesta; nephew/son, Antonio Sanchez.

She leaves behind six grandchildren, Manuel Chavarria, Sergio Chavarria, Nastassia DiLoreto and husband Joseph, David Chavarria and wife Sara, Octavio Cuesta, and Max Cuesta; and one great-grandchild, Eli Chavarria. She is also survived by her brother, Fulgencio; and her sister, Mila; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustin; her parents, Fulgencio and Petra; her brothers, Samuel, Puitlahuac, Manuel, and Tichito; and her sisters, Marbea, Arminda, Lenny, Nora, and Cecilia.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., immediately followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 S, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., also at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Manuel Chavarria, Sergio Chavarria, David Chavarria, and Octavio Cuesta; her son, Carlos Cuesta; and her son-in-law, Juan Chavarria. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandson, Max Cuesta and her son-in-law, Eduardo Jimenez.

Serva's legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
