Sandra K. Smith, lovingly known as Sandy, Gumby, Gump, and Aunt Paula, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Clyde, Texas at the age of 71 years old.
Born on July 21, 1955, in Abilene, Texas, Sandy spent her entire life in the community she cherished. She was the daughter of Glenda Coleman and William Gerald Cutbirth and the granddaughter of James Dewey and Ada Lois Millican. Sandy's life was a testament to love, care, and creativity.
Sandy dedicated over 50 years of her life to caring for children, including many within her own family. Her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on countless young lives. In addition to her caregiving role, she worked for Super Duper for many years, where her dedication and work ethic were evident to all who knew her.
Creativity was at the heart of Sandy's life. She had a passion for crafting and delighted in creating snowmen, rabbits, scarecrows, and other whimsical decorations that brought joy to those around her. Her home was a reflection of her artistic spirit, adorned with flowers, plants, and her many handmade creations.
Sandy's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her son Michael Smith and his wife Robin Smith; four grandchildren: John Smith; Destiny Milliorn and husband Zach Milliorn; Michael Myers; Katie Pliler and husband Ryan Pliler; and two great-grandchildren: Brynleigh and Kiptyn. She also leaves behind two sisters: Karen Greer and husband Richard Greer; Cheryl Townsend and husband Mike Townsend; as well as three nieces and nephews: Richelle Garrison; Brett Townsend and wife Nicole Townsend; Brianna Robison and husband Stephen Robison. Her legacy extends to six great-nieces and nephews: Kaylee Brownlee and husband Stephen Brownlee; Dillon Garrison; Cassidy Townsend; Madeline Townsend; Paizley Townsend; Canaan Robison; along with two great-great-nieces and nephews: Kashtyn and Oaklynn. And a loving step-father of 55 years, Mike Coleman.
Sandy was predeceased by her beloved grandparents James Dewey and Ada Lois Millican as well as her parents Glenda Coleman and William Gerald Cutbirth.
Those who knew Sandy remember her as a loving and caring individual whose warmth touched everyone she encountered. Her kindness will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she enriched.
