Sandra Elisa Solis lived her 59 years with strength, love, and a sense of humor that made her family smile even on difficult days. Born and raised in Abilene Texas, Sandra's roots were planted deep in her family and community.
She was a devoted daughter to Joe and Stella Galvan, and biological father Jimmy Solis, and a loving mother to Sonja and Sara. Her greatest joy was becoming "Grandma" to Samantha, Adryanna, Remy, Luis, and Malia, who filled her days with laughter and purpose. Sandra's love stretched wide to include her brothers Isaiah and Stevie, and countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all held a special place in her heart.
Sandra was a woman of determination. She proudly earned her GED, continued her studies at Hardin-Simmons University, and held a variety of jobs - starting with lending a hand at her family's business, Galvan's Store to receptionist on base to certified diamond specialists to CNA to caregiver to cotton technician. Outside of work, she loved crocheting, reading, and curling up to watch scary movies and dancing. These small joys reflected her ability to find beauty and fun in life's simple moments.
Though she faced the loss of loved ones - her sister Rosanne, her brother Benny, her aunt Joann, her Tia Brenda her uncle Albert, her uncle Benny, and grandmother Angel - she carried their memory with resilience and faith.
Sandra's family will gather on August 21 at Elmwood Funeral Home to honor her life with a viewing from 12-1pm , funeral service 1-2pm , and burial 2-3pm , followed by a shared meal at Rise Church Gym - just as she would have wanted, with family close and stories flowing.
Her life was one of love, perseverance, and devotion to family. Sandra will be remembered not only for the work she accomplished, but for the warmth she gave to everyone around her.
