Ross Landrum Plant died on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in San Angelo, TX, at the age of 83. He was surrounded by family as he peacefully entered his heavenly home and reunited with his wife, Twila, of 37 years.
Ross is survived by his children (and spouses), Jody Plant, Johnstown, OH; Tad C. Pruitt (Kimberly), Little Rock, AR; Shea M. Pruitt (Dawn), Denton; Elizabeth Plant Jagenberg (Bob), Farmington Hills, MI; Danielle Pruitt Robb (Walter), Austin; Grace Plant Marlatt (Tim), San Angelo. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ross is preceded in death by his loving wife, Twila Fern Plant, parents, Burke Plant, Sr. and Jeta Landrum Plant, brother, Burke Plant, Jr, and daugher-in-law, Linda Helms Plant.
He was born and raised in Big Spring, TX. He spent his summers at his grandparents' home in Fluvanna, TX, where he, his brother, Burke, and his cousins had many great adventures.
He was a graduate of Big Spring High School and Wayland Baptist University. His career as an electrical trades teacher began in Fort Worth. In 1969, the family moved to Abilene, TX where he taught at Abilene High School until 1987.
Ross and Twila dreamed of owning a ranch so in 1988, they moved to Yoakum, TX. They continued teaching and began raising longhorn cattle on the side. They found great joy in realizing their dream and eventually became full-time ranchers after they retired from teaching.
If you knew Ross, you knew his strong faith. All areas of his life reflected his love for God and his desire for all he knew to come to Christ. He spent many years serving in church and in his community. His children are forever grateful for the legacy of faith he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A graveside service is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Mt Olivet Cemetery, 2301 N Sylvania Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76111. Lunch to follow.
