Robert N. Woodward Sr., 90, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Abilene, Texas. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Robert was born September 25, 1932, in Gene Autry, Oklahoma to Nathan and Louise Woodward. In 1953 Robert joined the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Robert met Helen King in Lawton Oklahoma and the couple were married June 18, 1958. In 1978 Robert started working for Southwestern Bell as an Air Conditioning Specialist and retired in 1998 after 20 years of service. Some of Robert's hobbies included Nascar, gardening, feeding birds, motocross, going to casinos, and being outdoors. Robert is a member of the Chickasaw Nation. For over 10 years Robert coached his grandson's baseball team. Robert loved attending his great grandson's sporting events and hardly missed a game. Above all he loved his family, and he will be missed forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen Woodward; his son, Robert Ray Woodward; his brother, Gerald (Shorty) Woodward; and his sister, Ruth Behrens.
Robert is survived by his son, Randy Woodward and wife Terri; his grandchildren, Whitney Rangel and husband Richie, Cody Woodward and wife Savanah, Stacie Stokes and husband Chris, Heather Leigh Woodward, Elisha Delacruz and husband Martin, and Jason Perry and wife Tiffany; great grandchildren, Braxton Stokes, Nathan Rangel, Everly Woodward, Emily Woodward, Jeremy Harris, Paige Sims, Brandon Garza, Riley Perry, and Braylen Perry; one sister, Janell (Totsie) Adams and husband Jerry; and one brother, James Woodward and wife Norma.
