Robert worked as airport security at Abilene Regional Airport for a short time, when the opportunity came available for civil service with the Dyess Fire Department he jumped at the opportunity, where he worked another 20 years from May 1974 - May 1994.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and friend to many. He had a passion for the Word of God and loved to praise and worship his Lord. His last expressed desire was to be among the 24 elders bowed down in worship to his heavenly father. He loved to fish with his brothers, but even more so was a true fisher of men. He never hesitated to express his love to family and friends, but most of all, he loved God, leaving a lasting legacy to many generations.
