Robert Ira Claspill, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas.
Robert was born on April 4, 1948, in Richman Heights, Missouri, to his loving parents, Rufus and Alma Claspill. On June 12, 1971, he married the love of his life, Kathryn, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and lasting memories.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at San Antonio and went on to serve as an investigator for USIS Investigations. A dedicated family man, he was a proud and supportive father who never missed an opportunity to be involved in the things his daughter loved; especially swimming, where he happily volunteered as a swim official for many years. He was an avid reader who enjoyed bestsellers, a passionate golfer, and a devoted animal lover, especially fond of his dogs. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a proud member of the United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Texas.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn Claspill; his cherished daughter, Vanessa Claspill; his son-in-law, Mike Brunger; and his adored grandson, Jonathan Brunger. He is also survived by his brother, Rick Claspill; his sisters, Linda Claspill Davis, Nancy Gann, Diane Hess, and Charlene Maxey; and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Claspill.
Robert's extended family includes many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, among them Laura and Dennis Robinson, Josh, Kristi, Zach, and Levi Robinson, and Shawna, David and Theo Shiplett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Alma Claspill; his brother, James Claspill; his sister, Sue Craig; and his parents-in-law, John and Mabel Popalio.
Robert's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace and in the presence of the Lord.
