Reyes “Jake” Garza Flores
With grieving hearts, we announce the passing of Reyes “Jake” Garza Flores, who passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 57 surrounded by his family. Jake was a beloved son, sibling,uncle, and friend.
Jake was born on December 17, 1967, in Abilene, TX. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1987 and played baseball and football while in school, having made All-Stars in baseball many times. He was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.
After high school, Jake began working with his father and older brothers in the roofing and construction business his dad started, Texas Homes Roofing & Construction, having traveled around the state. Jake was a comedian who liked to joke around and make others laugh.
Jake is survived by his mother, Lucy Flores, siblings Melinda (Rudy) Tolentino, David (Toree) Flores and Tom Flores in addition to nieces and nephews: DaNean Byram, Michael Tolentino, Michael Flores Jr., Lucinda Flores, Elainna Myers, Matthew Flores, Joshua Flores, Melinda Flores, Emilio Tolentino and Alyssa Tolentino as well as several great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces. In addition, he is survived by aunts Olga Durieux, Amalia (Leon) Carrión and Elida Aldana.
Jake is preceded in death by his grandparents Emilio and Sarah Flores and Manuel and Juanita Garza, his father Emilio C. Flores Jr. and his brother Michael Flores Sr.
A celebration of Jake’s life will be held on August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Memorial Funeral Home. The viewing will be held 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, also at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Michael Tolentino, Michael Flores Jr., Matthew Flores Sr., Joshua Flores, Emilio Tolentino and Izaah Flores.
Honorary Pallbearers: Maddoux Chavez and Nolan Myers.
Jake was loved by his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed and remembered. As a Christian, he loved Jesus Christ. Rest in peace and we will see you again, Jake!!
