Ramiro Herrera, 70, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, surrounded by his family in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, located at 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX, 79606. Funeral service will be Tuesday May 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette St., Abilene, TX, 79602. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park 5750 Hwy 277 South Abilene, Texas.
Ramiro was born on June 15, 1954, in Hamlin, Texas to his parents Manuel and Emma Herrera. He married his loving wife Juanita Herrera in Abilene, Texas, they shared 46 years of marriage together. He was a musician by heart and was part of numerous bands. the most resent was with Anjelique and the Sweet City Band from Sweetwater, Texas for almost 20 years. He got the opportunity to play for many years at the Tejano Fan Fair. When he wasn't playing music, he enjoyed some of his favorite hobbies such as fishing, hunting and barbecuing. He was a well-known jack of all trades around the town from building post offices and houses from the ground up to making repairs for his neighbors.
Ramiro is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Herrera; his children, Romelia Alaniz, Rose Herrera, Crystal Herrera, Maggie Kincaid, Ramiro "Milo" Herrera; his grandchildren, Mireya Narvaez, Jayden Guerra, Christian Herrera, Krysenia Herrera, Nathaniel Herrera, Rocky Santana, Kaileah Herrera, Luna Rodriguez, Joshua Herrera; his great grandchild, Nyomi Guerra; his brothers and sisters, Irene and husband Richard Hutton, Marenda and husband Robert Vasquez, Lidia Ribera and late husband Raymond Rodriguez, Manuela and husband Floriberto Luna, Rosemary and husband Alionso Velasquez; And many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Herrera; his mother, Emma Herrera; Carmen Sanchez, Maryann Perez, Francis Sanchez, Cecilio Herrera Sr., Luis Herrera Sr., Ramiro "Pito" Medina Herrera.
