Patsy Ruth Davidson

April 29, 1936 — April 24, 2026

Patsy "Pat" Roberts Davidson of Prosper, Texas, formerly of Abilene, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, at the age of 89. Pat was born April 29, 1936, to J.C. and Eva Roberts in Abilene, Texas. She spent most of her life in Abilene and well regarded by those who knew her. She was active in the community serving on numerous boards, leadership groups, and community groups. She remained active throughout most of her life.

After graduating in 1954 from Abilene High School where she played basketball and lettered in softball, she attended Abilene Christian College.

She did not have an easy life but managed it well raising three teenage sons as a single mom at a time when divorcees were mostly shunned. Pat worked hard to provide for her family sometimes working multiple jobs while dedicating herself to making life as normal as possible. She supported her sons and grandkids in their varied endeavors. She often served as an officer for baseball leagues, chaperoned trips, and attended all the many events in which her sons and her grandchildren were involved.

Pat spent most of her career in healthcare administration working at Pathology Associates and for several chiropractors in Abilene. She later moved to DFW and began working at HCA Healthcare becoming a Medicare Specialist and finally retiring at the amazing age of 80 years old.

Most knew her as an avid bowler. She bowled for many years in Abilene, Arlington, and throughout DFW regularly bowling in local, state, and national tournaments. She often served as a league officer and loved the bowling community. She bowled even as she battled cancer. She retired from bowling at 83 years of age and remained a cancer survivor for almost 30 years.

She met her great love, David Mitchell at a bowling event. They married in December 2004. They enjoyed life for several years before their time was cut short when David passed away unexpectedly in 2007.

People found her ornery and charming at the same time. She enjoyed telling stories and being a part of the action. At gatherings, she was often the hit of party. People gravitated to her. She could always be seen laughing and cutting up and had a way of endearing herself to people, even those she did not know.

She loved to play games especially with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed learning new games as well as mastering old ones. She was known to cheat and when caught, pretended she did not know what she was doing. When she did not know what she was doing, she would pretend she was trying to cheat. Up until her passing, she continued to play games and loved to play Phase10 online often beating her online competitors.

Throughout her life, her love for God revealed itself with subtlety. She was known to read her Bible when she thought no one was looking and often prayed for her kids and grandkids. She reaffirmed her faith in Jesus Christ several times in recent years as she began to deal with the consequences of and challenges of dysphagia.

She won over the hearts of the staff of Baylor Scott and White hospital who provided remarkable care for her. Several staff members cried as they heard of her passing. The BSW team were amazing help in her final days. It was from BSW she was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2026, just 5 days short of her 90th birthday. And with one final act of orneriness, on her granddaughters' birthday.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents J. C. Roberts and Eva Monroe Roberts, husband David Mitchell, and her eldest son, David Allen Davidson. She is survived by two sons: Rusty Davidson of Prosper, TX; Dusty Davidson (Bo Currie) of Norwich, NY; a sister, Peggy Watkins of Gatesville, Texas; and 4 grandchildren: Jared Davidson of Abilene, TX, Jaclyn Davidson of Dallas, TX; Kelsey Davidson of Prosper, TX; Bailey Davidson of Los Angeles, CA; as well as a nephew and two nieces, several cousins, and many extended family and friends she considered family.
