Otis Harold Richards, Sr., 93, born in Arnett, OK, died after a brief illness on October 31, 2008 in Arlington Memorial Hospital. Otis was a much loved grandfather, father, brother, uncle and husband, He was a 60 year resident of Abilene, an independent geological engineer, and a member of Brook Hollow Christian Church. He was active in local politics, served as an Elder, scout leader and baseball coach. During World War II he served as a Chief Carpenters Mate in the Navy Seabees.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hannah Worten Richards.

Surviving family include: son Otis, Jr, and his daughters, Jessica, Lindsey and Sara; son Mike and wife Elaine, and son Taylor; daughter Susan Smith and her children Amanda, Ashley and Austin; daughter Rebecca and husband Geoff Webb and their daughters Whitney and Emma. We will miss you, Dad.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, Nov. 3rd at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations should be made to the USO, USO World Headquarters, Department WS, PO Box 96860 Washington, DC 20090-6860.
