Mary Tavera

Mary Tavera was born on January 11, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Macedonio Donias and Adelina Garcia Donias. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on April 4, 2024.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00am at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband, Joe Tavera, brothers Macedonio Jr. and Ernest Donias, sister Linda Hererra, daughter Marie Benitez, and grandchildren Bobby Benitez, and Destiney and Anthony Tavera.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Elmwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park 5750 Hwy 277 South Abilene, Texas.

Mary attended grade school in San Antonio, Texas, but left formal education early to work, moving frequently as part of a large family of 12 brothers and sisters, contributing to living expenses. A free spirit, she moved frequently between Abilene and Fort Worth attending to family and relatives as needed. Mary enjoyed music, and in her spare time, quilting, dancing, and an occasional beer.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, children Ezekiel Benitez (Antrenett) of San Antonio, Gabriel Benitez, and JoAnn Conrad (Shawn) of Abilene, brothers Sotero (Beverly), Jessee, Joe (Sandra) of Fort Worth, and sisters Julia, Rachel (Marcos), Sylvia (Jimmy) and Angie (Gilbert) of Fort Worth, and sister Adelina from Abilene, Texas, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and pet chihuahua, Rosie.
