Kathy Johnson

Mary Katherine “Kathy” Johnson, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. She is now peacefully home with the Lord, and reunited with her husband in heaven. No more pain; no more Alzheimer's; completely new in God’s presence.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene. A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM, Monday, June 24, 2024, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Rd, Abilene, Texas, 79601. Kathy Johnson was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on January 30, 1937, the daughter of Noel and Alta Yeakley. She was one of six children. Kathy married Harvey Johnson on April 30, 1960. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage before he passed away in 2022.

Kathy was an amazing mother who raised three boys, all born in a 3-year period of time. She sacrificed again and again to make sure they were cared for and knew the love of God. She nurtured and supported them throughout their childhood and adult years, raising them to impact others around them. 

She was strong in her faith, and a member of the Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene. She was a quiet prayer warrior and a true encourager.

As her boys married and began their own families, she began enjoying her hobbies of painting, crocheting, knitting, and cross stitching. 

Kathy is survived by her three sons, Frank Johnson (Jackie), Gary Johnson (Angela), and Ray Johnson (Lauri); grandchildren, Colt (Katie), Tiffani (Charles), Matthew, Daniel, Ricky, Michael (Rachel), Cassi (Shane), Grace (Tyler), and Sean; Great-Grandchildren, Kennedy, Landry, Jackson, Shane, Liam, Noelle, Shiloh, Sage, and Emerson. Kathy is also survived by her siblings, Lester, Alton, and Lillie.
